From December 4, 1981, through May 17, 1990, nine seasons of the popular American prime time television soap opera Falcon Crest were broadcast on CBS. The affluent Gioberti/Channing family’s quarreling factions in the California wine industry are the focus of the television series.
Alongside Robert Foxworth as Angela’s nephew Chase Gioberti and subsequently David Selby as Richard Channing, the fatherless son of Angela’s ex-husband, Jane Wyman plays the despotic grandmother of the Falcon Crest Winery.
Abby Dalton and Margaret Ladd, who play Angela’s daughters Julia and Emma, Lorenzo Lamas, who plays Angela’s grandson Lance, Susan Sullivan, who plays Chase’s wife Maggie, William R. Moses, who plays their son Cole, and Ana Alicia, who plays heiress Melissa Agretti are some of the other notable series regulars.
The fictional Tuscany Valley, located northeast of San Francisco, is based on the Napa Valley.
